Abstract
A 41-year-old man was diagnosed with group A beta-hemolytic streptococ cal primary gangrenous myositis (previously reported with a 100% morta lity) and toxic shock syndrome. Neither disease is fatal if clinical s uspicion is maintained so that early diagnosis, appropriate antibiotic s, aggressive surgical treatment, and vigorous supportive measures are instituted rapidly.
