U. Halm et al., PRIMARY AMYLOIDOSIS OF THE GASTROINTESTIN AL-TRACT AND THE LIVER - 2 CASE-REPORTS, Zeitschrift fur Gastroenterologie, 35(2), 1997, pp. 131-137
In primary amyloidosis the gastrointestinal tract and the liver are co
mmonly involved, but clinical features and prognosis are mainly determ
ined by the extent of cardiac and renal involvement. We review two cas
es with primary amyloidosis of the gastrointestinal tract and the live
r. The predominant symptoms were malabsorption and hepatomegaly with c
holestasis. The clinical aspects, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis o
f primary amyloidosis of the gastrointestinal tract and the liver are
discussed in the context of the current literature.
