A. Schutz et W. Schultz, WATER-ABSORPTION AND THE INFLUENCE OF MOI STURE ON THE DIELECTRIC-PROPERTIES OF GLASS-FIBER-REINFORCED POLYMERS, Archiv fur Elektrotechnik, 77(6), 1994, pp. 433-440
Due to the increasing number of applications of glass fibre reinforced
polymers (FRP) in outdoor insulation systems the properties of FRP un
der moisture attack are of great interest. In this paper the water tra
nsport mechanism in FRP is described and the equations of the absorpti
on process are given. The influence of moisture on the dielectric prop
erties is investigated and a mathematical model to calculate the diele
ctric constant by using the measured water content is developed. The i
nfluence of the glass fibre finish on the properties of FRP is also di
scussed.
