Abstract
Effects of alkaline substances on blast furnace operation. Methods of reducing the effects of alkaline substances: limitation of alkaline in put into the furnace and improvement of alkaline discharge in blast fu rnace slag. Description of tests run on Blast Furnace III at the Klock ner Stahl Bremen plant. Representation of test results: influence of a lkaline substances on fuel consumption, influence of alkaline substanc es on the pressure gradient of the blast furnace, change in furnace ca pacity. Influence of different coke key quality data such as CSR and C RI values and sulphur content. Conclusions: a reduction in alkaline in put leads to improved furnace operation, thus increasing the capacity of the blast furnace and markedly reducing fuel consumption.
