R. Hubo et al., INFLUENCE OF FLAME STRAIGHTENING ON THE P ROPERTIES OF THERMOMECHANICALLY ROLLED SHIPBUILDING STEELS, Stahl und Eisen, 114(9), 1994, pp. 97
Description of practice-related flame straightening methods for shipbu
ilding plate. Test programme, treatment of specimens in a welding simu
lator. Investigation of heat zones as well as simulation tests produce
d, among others, the following findings: no impairment of material pro
perties to be expected at flame straightening temperatures below 700 d
egrees C. At temperatures above 700 degrees C, critical reduction in t
he yield point and notch impact energy values. Flame straightening tem
peratures above 950 degrees C must be avoided. TM-rolled, higher stren
gth shipbuilding steels are generally less critical in their reactions
as comparable normalized higher-strength shipbuilding steels.
