The structure of the tetragonal alpha-phase of lanthanide derivatives
of (bis)phthalocyanine PcL(III)Pc(ox) (Pc = [C32H16N8](2-), Pc(ox) = [
C32H16N8](-), L = lanthanide) crystals is reported. The crystals of Pc
NdPc(ox) (I) and PcPrPc(ox) (II) crystallized on a platinum anode with
(I) a = 19.544 (2), c = 6.514 (1) Angstrom, Z = 2, P4/nnc, (II) a = 2
0.066 (7), c = 6.463 (2) Angstrom, Z = 2, P4/nnc. The structure is bui
lt up from columns of equi-distantly separated sandwich-like molecules
. The molecular columns are arranged in a regular square lattice, allo
wing the stacks to be shifted along the stack axis. The remarkable fea
ture of this structure is the similar to 1:2.7 ratio of the metal-site
occupancy coefficients, which is interpreted in terms of a disordered
superstructure, the disorder being caused by the presence of a small
amount of a triple-decker PcLPcLPc complex.
