Jolicoeur (8) developed a multivariate generalization of the allometri
c equation based on the first vector of a principal component analysis
. Although the Jolicouer's method seems to be more realistic, differen
ces on multivariate allometric coefficients (MACs) have been assessed
subjectively. The purpose of the present paper is to propose and illus
trate how jackknife procedure can provide a way to test for difference
s between MACs. For this illustration, MACs of juvenilles and adults o
f Corydoras barbatus were compared across 20 morphometrical variables.
