Abstract
We present experimental data and the underlying physics of spatial-pha se-modulation effects associated with the thermal nonlinearity of semi conductor-doped glasses. Transient and steady-state self-focusing, las er-induced birefringence, and spatial ringing of the thermal origin we re studied in this class of optical materials.
