Thermoelectric transport due to the motion of free unbound vortices ab
ove the Kosterlitz-Thouless transition temperature is considered. It i
s shown that the Magnus force, which appears under the influence of th
e temperature gradient, leads to a nonzero thermopower at a temperatur
e above the Kosterlitz-Thouless transition temperature T(KT), but belo
w the mean-field (Ginzburg-Landau) critical temperature T(GL). The exp
onential inverse-square-root reduced-temperature dependence of the the
rmopower above T(KT) is predicted with a consequent broadening of the
superconducting transition detected by means of thermopower measuremen
ts. The case of the clean superconductor is analyzed.
