Abstract
We extend spin-polarized photoelectron diffraction to the direct imagi ng of magnetic spin configurations by using holographic-inversion meth ods. Theoretical calculations for Mn2+ and O2- ions in linear chains s how that it is possible via two different spin-selective image functio ns to determine both the positions and orientations of magnetic scatte rers relative to a given type of emitter. Such holographic images thus should provide direct information on short-range magnetic spin config urations near surfaces.
