Abstract
The imaging plate, based on photostimulable luminescence (PSL) in BaFB r:Eu2+, has emerged as a potential alternative to photographic film in diagnostic X ray imaging. It is also finding increasing use in other fields such as X ray diffraction, autoradiography, etc. The principles and merits of this PSL technique are reviewed and discussed briefly.
