In this paper, we present a method of wideband array calibration which
minimizes signal cancellation in the generalized sidelobe canceller.
Array calibration is achieved by deriving the optimal eigenvector-base
d blocking matrix that minimizes leakage of the desired signal into th
e noise cancelling filter, and also the corresponding passing matrix w
hich maximally enhances the desired signal. Simulations and experiment
al results using data collected from wideband arrays constructed at th
e University of Texas at Dallas demonstrate that our calibration techn
ique performs well with actual data as well as with simulated data.
