Abstract
X-ray analysis of the yellow, air-unstable, crystalline compound CpZr Cl3 (1) which results from the reaction of ZrCl4 with CpSiMe3 confirm s the presence of two CpZrCl3 moieties related by a centre of symmetr y with two chlorine atoms bridging the metals. 1 is therefore a dimer, despite the molecular structure of [CpZrCl3], which was found to be a polymer.
