CP-ASTERISK-RU COMPLEXES OF HIGHLY FLUORINATED ARENES - MOLECULAR-STRUCTURE OF [CP(BOOLEAN-AND)RU(ETA-6-C6F5-OH)]CF3SO3 AND EXTREMELY FACILE F OH EXCHANGE IN COORDINATED FLUOROARENE LIGANDS/, Organometallics, 13(10), 1994, pp. 4064-4066
Reaction of [C(p)Ru(OMe)]2 with highly fluorinated arenes gives easy
access to fluoroarene CpRu sandwich complexes. The reaction is demons
trated with the ligands C6F5OH and C6F6 to yield CpRu(eta6-C6F5O) (2)
, [CpRu(eta6-C6F5OH)]CF3SO3 (3), and [Cp*Ru(eta6-C6F6)]CF3-SO3 (4), r
espectively. [Cp AND Ru(eta6-C6F5OH)]CF3SO3 (3b) (CpAND = eta5-C5Me4Et
) crystallizes in the space group P1BAR (No. 2) with a = 9.022(2), b =
9.750(7), and c = 13.215(3) angstrom, alpha = 75.04(3), beta = 76.49(
1), and gamma = 80.34(3)-degrees, and z = 2. Extremely facile fluoride
, for example, methoxide substitution, has been observed in the cation
ic fluoroarene complexes.
