G. Viesti et al., THE ROLE OF NUCLEAR-DYNAMICS IN THE POPULATION OF HIGHLY-DEFORMED ANDSUPER-DEFORMED BANDS, Nuclear physics. A, 579(1-2), 1994, pp. 225-240
The population of the highly-deformed band in Nd-133 has been studied
using the reactions S-32 + Pd-105 and Ni-60 + Se-77 to form the compou
nd nucleus Sm-137 at comparable excitation energy. Experimental result
s do not show any dependence on the entrance-channel mass asymmetry, i
n agreement with recent results for Nd-135 and at variance with those
for the Gd-147, Gd-148 and Dy-152 nuclei. The experimental data on the
entrance-channel dependence of the population of highly- and super-de
formed bands in the mass regions A approximately 130,150 and 190 are d
iscussed in terms of dynamical effects which occur during the formatio
n process of the compound nucleus as well as in the fission channel.
