Surgical correction of partial anomalous pulmonary venous drainage is
difficult and may be complicated by acquired postoperative stenosis at
the site of reimplantation of the pulmonary veins in the left atrium.
Diagnosis should be made quickly because of the very poor prognosis d
ue to acute pulmonary hypertension. The case described by the authors
underlines the value of multiplane transesophageal echocardiography wi
th two-dimensional and Doppler analysis for rapid and accurate diagnos
is of this complication.
