The object of the investigation was the identification of the flavonoi
ds of soya bean and testing them in rats against cholesterol and drug
metabolizing enzymes. The cultivar UFV 5' was shown to contain formono
metin, biochanin A, genistein, daidzein, naringenin, rutin, quercetin,
morin, genistin, daidzin, quercitrin, khaempherol and isoquercitrin w
hich were isolated, identified and tested. Animals that were administr
ated formonometin, biochanin A, rutin, quercetin, quercitrin, isoquerc
itrin showed lowest concentrations of lipids in the bloodstream and hi
ghest concentrations of biliary salts, and no difference among them wa
s observed for drug metabolizing enzymes.
