Abstract
A new triterpene tetrasaccharide, formoside (1) was isolated in 25% yi eld from the butanolic extract of the marine sponge Erylus formosus. T he structure of the aglycone was identical to that of penasterol while the glycoside was composed of two arabinose and two galactose units w ith Ara-I as the branch point for Gal-I and the Ara-II-Gal-II unit.
