GEOCHEMICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL-STUDIES OF UNDERGROUND WATERS IN USA

The trends and results of studies carried out by USA Geological Servic e and USA Environmental Protection Agency are considered and discussed based on the analysis of methods and results of geochemical and envir onmental studies of underground waters in USA. Three problems are aspe cially considered: 1) the studies of the formation of the chemical com position of underground waters including the polluted waters as well a s the methods of computer modeling of such process; 2) the studies of geochemistry of organics including the technogenic matter in undergrou nd waters especially the geochemical transformation of the former; 3) the studies of geochemistry of different chemical elements in undergro und waters along with the conditions of formation of different transpo rt chemical forms. The methods of regional environmental monitoring an d experimental as well as analytical provision. Some advantages in org anisation of environmental studies in USA are demonstrated. The conclu sions on preferable intensification of prognostic modeling of undergro und wated qualities and organic matter studies are made.
