ACHILLES-TENDON DISORDERS

Achilles tendon injuries are discussed in terms of various causes, pat homechanics, and treatment options. Surgical and nonsurgical managemen t has evolved to promote the athlete's early return to sport using a n ew suture technique and aggressive rehabilitation protocol. Adherence to principles of soft tissue technique and specific training modalitie s have significantly reduced the morbidity of these injuries by restor ing range of motion and preventing disuse atrophy.
