Abstract
Comparative data on infant caring practices among Bangladeshi and Wels h families in Cardiff, and among Maori and white families in New Zeala nd, reveal qualitative differences in the infant sensory environment. An anthropological perspecitive is adopted to place SIDS, lone infant sleeping and parent:infant co-sleeping in a broader cultural context.
