Moderately-thick anti-symmetric angle-ply laminated clamped plates, su
bjected to uniform distributed loads, are critically investigated usin
g analytical and finite element techniques. A recently developed gener
alized Navier approach based on Reissner-Mindlin shear deformation the
ory is used for the analytical investigation, while a four-node quadri
lateral element due to Bathe and Dvorkin is employed for the finite el
ement solution. Numerical results presented for various parametric res
ponses are compared with the available thin plate-based analytical sol
utions. The numerical results thus presented should serve as bench-mar
ks for future comparisons.
