Ou. Beg et Dc. Shaw, THE COMPLETE PRIMARY STRUCTURE OF LATE LACTATION PROTEIN FROM QUOKKA (SETONIX BRACHYURUS), Journal of protein chemistry, 13(6), 1994, pp. 513-516
The complete primary structure of the late lactation protein from the
milk of quokka (Setonix brachyurus) is presented. The amino acid seque
nce was established by N-terminal sequence analysis of high-performanc
e liquid chromatography purified intact protein and peptides isolated
from chemical and enzymatic digests of the protein. The protein contai
ns 158 residues including four cysteines. The sequence comparison with
the tamar wallaby (Macropus eugenii) late lactation protein shows onl
y five differences. The protein is identified as a new member of a nov
el late lactation protein family present in the milk of marsupials.
