The stationary scattering of acoustic waves on a partition separating
plane semi-infinite waveguides is studied. The walls of one waveguide
are absolutely rigid, while those of the other are absolutely soft. As
a partition, either a piston elastically coupled to the waveguide wal
ls or a flexibly oscillating plate is considered. In the first case, t
he exact analytical solution is obtained. In the second case, an infin
ite set of linear algebraic equations of the second kind with a comple
tely continuous operator, which admits a numerical solution using a tr
uncation technique, is derived. The results of a numerical analysis of
the reflection coefficient related to the energy of normal waves as a
function of the incident wave frequency are presented.
