J. Patarin et al., SYNTHESIS AND STRUCTURE DETERMINATION OF (NH4)2TIF4O, European journal of solid state and inorganic chemistry, 31(6), 1994, pp. 501-511
The new ammonium oxyfluorotitanate (NH4)2TiF4O was obtained by heating
an aqueous solution of H2TiF6 and urea as a pH modifier at 170-degree
s-C for 24 hours. The crystal structure was determined by single cryst
al X-ray diffraction. The structure is essentially isostructural with
beta-(NH4)2FeF5. Nevertheless, the symmetry of (NH4)2TiF4O is monoclin
ic,a = 0.63245(1) nm, b = 0.75422 (1) nm, c = 1.10095(2) nm, beta = 90
.12(2)-degrees,space group P2(1)/m, Z=4. The structure consists of kin
ked parallel chains of TiF4O2 octahedra linked through the two oxygens
in a trans position. The chains are loosely interconnected by the NH4
+ cations.
