Abstract
The magnetic and structural properties of (111)Pt/Co and Pt/Co/Ag supe rlattices were studied. The samples were grown at 373 K on Ag buffer l ayers performed on 7x7-(111)Si substrates by molecular-beam epitaxy. T he superlattices with Co layer thickness (t) smaller than 1.5 nm exhib ited perpendicular magnetic anisotropy. The dependence of the coercivi ty (H(c)) of the Pt/Co superlattices on t is presented in detail. The H(c) exhibited a t-5/2 dependence that was previously reported not to be demonstrated in an epitaxial Pt/Co/Pt wedge-shaped sandwich structu re.
