Abstract
In the present investigation the blood morphology of Cyprinus carpio a nd Heterpneustes fossilis was compared. Erythrocyte count, leucocyte c ount, haemoglobin percentage, PCV and MCV recorded a higher value for Heteropneustes fossilis but values of MCH and MCHC were found lower th an those of Cyprinus carpio. The thrombocyte count of Cyprinus carpio was higher than that of Heteropneustes fossilis while neutrophils, eos inophils and monocytes counts were lower in the former. There was no c hange in the value of small and large lymphocyte of both the fishes.
