A PROGRAM BASED ON THE EARLY DIAGNOSIS AN D TREATMENT FOR THE PREVENTION OF LOSSES CAUSED BY KETOSIS - EXPERIENCES OBTAINED BY THE KETONURIC INDEX AND BY THE USE OF A GLYCOCORTICOID

Based on the former investigations and experiences of the author (''ke tonuric index'' etc.), glycocorticoidacetate containing iso-flupredon acetate (Predef 2 x A. U. V., Upjohn) is proposed for the prevention o f ketosis: For that reason, in all cases when the calculated ketonuric index, qualifying the danger of ketonuria, reached or surpassed 30, 1 0 ml of Predef 2 x inj. is given intramuscularly (repeated on the subs equent day), as well as propylene glycol given orally (during 4 to 5 d ays). In cases with lower ketonuric index only the application of prop ylene glycol is proposed. This way, the ketonuria can be ceased and th e frequently developing subclinical ketosis and its complication can a lso be prevented.
