The structure of hydrogen bonds in cellulose fibers suspended in an aq
ueous medium and subjected to centrifugal forces was studied by Fourie
r-transform IR spectroscopy. The energy characteristics of hydrogen bo
nds in dry cellulose are not affected by centrifugation. In water susp
ensions of cellulose, the centrifugal forces change the energy of hydr
ogen bonds in the hydration shell of microfibrils.
