Three-dimensional CT imaging of the infant hip is a new method of coxo
metry. The challenge is to avoid any unnecessary radiation and to asse
ss as well as possible the three-dimensional anatomy of the growing hi
p. The images on the console give several standardized views-coronal,
axial, or lateral. The reproducibility of the measures is notably impr
oved using this method. Any measurement is taken at the same plane and
in the same orientation for each pelvis. The assessment of the weight
-bearing dome is made much easier with the surface three-dimensional r
econstruction of the infant hip.
