Abstract
Structural elucidations of seven novel sesquiterpene pyridine alkaloid
s, chuchuhuanines E-I (1), E-II (2), E-III (3), E-IV (4), E-V (5), W-I
(6) and 4-deoxyeuonymine (7), which were isolated along with seven kn
own alkaloids from root barks of Maytenus chuchuhuasca Raymond-Hamet e
t Colas (Celastraceae), are presented. Their structures with a novel d
ihydro-beta-agarofuran type sesquiterpene core, linking several ester
moieties and including a fifteen or a sixteen membered macrocyclic die
ster ring system, were elucidated by mainly spectroscopic methods.
