Abstract
Methyl methanesulphonate (MMS-) induced DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs ) were detected in V. faba root tips by neutral DNA elution at MMS-con centrations of 4 mM, 5 mM, 6 mM and 10 mM. Evaluation of the dose depe ndent response to the mutagen revealed unexpected results. After a rec overy time of 24 h of mutagen - treated roots the amount of DSBs incre ased 1.8 up to 2.6 times.
