Abstract
The complete nucleotide sequence of the gene encoding the Salmonella t yphimurium methyl viologen-resistant protein, SmvA, similar to QacA (r esistance to quaternary ammonium ion) of Staphylococcus aureus, and th e surrounding sequences were determined. This indicated that the gene arrangement of S. typhimurium is different from that of Escherichia co li in this region.
