A new kinetic-based method for simultaneous determination of binary mi
xtures is proposed that is simple, rapid, and minimizes errors arising
from drift. This new method is based on the measurement of the rate a
t two points during the course of the enzymatic reaction and is theref
ore referred to as a two-rate method. The performance of the method is
evaluated by the L-amino acid oxidase/Trinder reaction for the determ
ination of binary mixtures of L-amino acids under the same conditions
using air-segmented continuous flow/stopped-flow methodology. Some ass
umptions with this method are presented and supported by experimental
data.
