The paper describes two scintillation hodoscopes based on FEU-143 phot
omultipliers. Each of the two hodoscopes consists of eight elements 14
00 mm long with a section of 56 x 56 mm. The time and amplitude proper
ties were measured in real experiments at the U-70 IHEP accelerator in
Serpukhov. The resolution with respect to the time difference between
signals from two hodoscopes is 224 psec. Pions and protons with momen
ta of less than 1000 MeV/c are separated by their ionization losses.
