Second dielectric virial coefficients B(epsilon)(T) of the rare gases
Ne, Ar, Kr, and Xe are calculated in a broad range of temperature usin
g accurate HFD-type interatomic interaction potentials and available i
nformation on the trace of the pair polarizability DELTAalpha. It is s
hown that the experimentally determined temperature-variation of B(eps
ilon)(T) cannot be reproduced by existing theories. However, it is obs
erved that the reduced dimensionless form of B(epsilon)(T) follows a r
emarkably regular pattern, strongly resembling the sign-inverted tempe
rature variation of the second density virial coefficient B(rho)(T) wi
th the same Boyle-temperature.
