R. Ramakumar et al., ELECTRON-CORRELATION EFFECTS ON THE PROPERTIES OF LAXSR1-XTIO3, Physical review. B, Condensed matter, 50(14), 1994, pp. 10122-10127
A theoretical study of the electron-correlation effects on the propert
ies of LaxSr1-xTiO3 is presented. Using a single band repulsive Hubbar
d model employing the Gutzwiller approximation we study the effect of
electron correlations on the effective-mass, band narrowing, plasma fr
equency, and spin susceptibility. The doping dependence of these prope
rties are found to be qualitatively in agreement with recent experimen
tal studies on LaxSr1-xTiO3. We have also proposed a possibility for i
nducing superconductivity using the idea of proximity effect. The indu
ced superconducting gap in LaxSr1-xTiO3 is predicted to be maximum nea
r the half-filling of the Ti 3d band.
