A. Darolova et C. Mikes, PCB AND SIGMA-DDT CONTAMINATION IN EGGS OF THE SELECTED BIRD SPECIES IN THE PODUNAJSKA-NIZINA LOWLAND (SLOVAKIA), BIOLOGIA, 49(2), 1994, pp. 255-261
The level of PCBs and SIGMADDT in the eggs of five free living species
of birds from the Podunajska nizina lowland was analysed by gas chrom
atography. Each analysed sample of eggs of Pica pica (34 eggs), Corvus
frugilegus (49 eggs), Turdus merula (17 eggs) Turdus philomelos (16 e
ggs) and Fulica atra (31 eggs) contained residua of PCB and SIGMADDT.
Except for Fulica atra, the average level of SIGMADDT was higher than
that of PCBs. In Turdus merula, the PCB level was higher in the earlie
r clutches than in the later ones. In Pica pica this relation was also
observed in the SIGMADDT level. In Turdus philomelos this relation wa
s observed also in the SIGMADDT level. In Turdus philomelos this relat
ion was observed also in the SIGMADDT level. In Turdus philomelos this
relation was not confirmed.
