Ornithocoenosis was regularly studied over a 5-hectare area in a resid
ential district in Bratislava from 1979 to 1992. The quality and quali
ty of bird species, their relationship to the biotope, their occurrenc
e in respective seasons of the year, as well as the frequency of their
occurrence were investigated. During the past 14 years 110 bird speci
es have been registered. Of them, 31 species were nidificants. Species
and individual variability, mainly during the nesting period, was dir
ectly dependent on climatic conditions as well as on the amount of pre
dators. A characteristic feature of the ornithocoenosis of this reside
ntial district was a relative stability of species composition in the
respective years. This was reflected in the high number (31) of eucons
tant species. The importance of the studied intravillan biotope for bo
th nestings and hibernants has been confirmed.
