Ag. Gayubo et al., CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE CALCULATIONS OF COKE DEACTIVATION KINETICS - A COMPARISON OF METHODS, Chemical engineering journal and the biochemical engineering journal, 55(3), 1994, pp. 125-134
The deactivation of catalysts by coke deposition can be described in v
arious ways. Several methods are compared with experimental data. The
experimental system studied is the deactivation of a silica-alumina ca
talyst used in the dehydration of 2-ethylhexanol in differential and i
ntegral reactors (at constant temperature and using a linear ramp of t
emperature-time). The limitations of the conventional simplified metho
ds of data analysis are proven. The kinetics calculated by using the s
implified methods may differ from the real kinetics and be useless for
reactor simulation.
