Abstract
A study on the vapour pressures of polar substances has been carried o ut. Using a Wagner type vapour pressure equation, a new correlation ba sed on the four-parameter corresponding states has been established. O nly one parameter has to be obtained from experimental data. Vapour pr essures calculated for 40 substances produced an average absolute devi ation of 0.95%. The results were compared with those obtained using th e methods of Brandani (Ind. Eng. Chem. Res., 32 (1993) 756-758), Gomez -Nieto and Thodos (Can. J. Chem. Eng., 55 (1977) 445-449) and Wilding et al. (Int. J. Thermophys., 8 (1987) 717-735).
