Abstract
The reaction of the tripodal phosphonotrihydrazone (S)P[NMe-N=CH-C6H4- o-OH]3 with nickel acetate resulted in the formation of an original 2: 3 complex (2 phosphono trihydrazone/3 Ni) which was characterized by X -ray diffraction. This complex possesses the unique framework (N)2Ni(0 )2Ni(0)2Ni(N)2, which is also observed for a minor compound obtained i n the reaction of phosphonodihydrazone Ph-P(S)[NMe-N=CH-C6H3-o-OH, p-O H]2 with nickel acetate. Bond lengths and angles of both complexes are compared with the corresponding data of free phosphono di- and tri-hy drazones.
