Abstract
A methodology is reported for the early introduction of the C-6 and C- 7 oxygenated groups in the A,B ring system of forskolin, based on the use of 1,4-dioxene. The key intermediate in this approach is the allyl ic alcohol, 7, obtained by treatment of the oxygenated diene 6 with br omine-sodium carbonate.
