Abstract
Two CO2 lasers With SF6 as an intracavity saturable absorber were opti cally coupled, and their passive Q-switching dynamics were investigate d. The amount of coupling used induced transitions from two unsynchron ized periodic oscillating lasers into two synchronized chaotic ones. C onversely, the uucoupled lasers set in the chaotic regime could be mad e synchronized with a periodic pulsation after their coupling. Numeric al solutions for the laser equations agree with the observations.
