Ms. Khan et al., MULTIPLICITY CORRELATIONS IN THE FORWARD AND BACKWARD HEMISPHERES IN C-12-NUCLEUS INTERACTIONS AT 4.5A GEV E/, Nuovo cimento della Società Italiana di Fisica. A. Nuclei, particles and fields, 109(12), 1996, pp. 1623-1634
An attempt has been made to investigate the characteristics of seconda
ry charged shower particles produced in the forward and backward hemis
pheres in 4.5A GeV/c C-12-emulsion interactions. The results reveal th
at the impact parameter has a strong bearing on m-distributions. The r
atio N-s(F)/N-s(B) is found to increase with increasing projectile mas
ses. The value of the leading particle multiplicity is estimated to be
(0.45 +/- 0.04) in the case of C-12-nucleus reactions at 4.5A GeV/c.
Finally, the forward-backward multiplicity correlations are observed t
o be linear. However, the value of the slope parameter is found to dep
end strongly on the mass of the projectile.
