Abstract
Many structural congenital heart defects present at birth, and most ar e diagnosed by 1 year of age. Arrhythmias also are common during this time and may be particularly problematic. Identification of infants wh o may have a serious underlying congenital heart defect is important b ecause many require prompt medical and surgical treatment. This articl e is a guide to the clinical findings that may assist the practitioner in the evaluation of infants with potential cardiac problems.
