Abstract
Retroileal colorectal anastomosis following a complete resection of le ft-sided colon was performed in 28 patients with differing diseases of the colon. Concerning the rate of leackage of anastomosis dextraposit ion appeared to be as safe as conventional techniques. Turnbull origin ally created this technique to perform a tension-free anastomosis afte r resection of the left sided colon. In doing so the retained colon re duces the risk of incontinence especially seen with elderly patients.
