The ternary system H2O-NH4NO3-Al(NO3)3. I- Isothermal sections at 10,
30, 45, 60 and 80-degrees-C. The solid-liquid equilibria of the ternar
y system water-ammonium nitrate - aluminium nitrate were studied by us
ing a synthetic method based on conductivity measurements. Five isothe
rms are completely established and the stable or metastable solid phas
es which appear are respectively: at 10-degrees-C : Al(NO3)3 . 9H2O, A
l(NO3)3 . 8H2O alpha stable and metastable and NH4NO3 IV at 30-degrees
-C : Al(NO3)3 . 9H2O, Al(NO3)3 . 8H2O alpha, NH4NO3 IV stable and NH4O
3 III metastable. at 45-degrees-C : Al(NO3)3 . 9H2O, Al(NO3)3 . 8H2O b
eta, Al(NO3) . 6H2O and NH4NO3 III. at 60-degrees-C : Al(NO3)3 . 9H2O,
Al(NO3)3 . 8H2O delta, Al(NO3)3 . 6H2O and NH4NO3 III. at 80-degrees-
C : Al(NO3)3 . 8H2O . Al(NO3)3 . 6H2O and NH4NO3 III. Neither double s
alts nor mixed crystals are observed in the temperature and compositio
n field studied.
