Abstract
The authors presented the results of ultrasonic investigation of 201 p atients with cholelithiasis that were confirmed during surgery. Concur rent acute or chronic inflammations and hydrops of the gallbladder wer e found to be the commonest complications. More rare but dangerous com plications were cholecystempyesis, wall destructions or paravesical ab scess. Echographical symptoms of the complications mentioned were pres ented as well. The informative value of ultrasonic investigation turne d to be rather high: the USI data coincided with operative findings in 98% of the patients.
