The photoperiodic response for the induction of adult diapause and tha
t for the determination of nymphal body coloration were compared in Pl
autia stall Scott (Heteroptera: Pentatomidae). The former was an all-o
r-none response with a distinct threshold, but the latter was a graded
response which varied quantitatively with the photophase duration. Th
e photoperiodic clock in this species is discussed.
